What a great week it was for Acculec customers. All the way from Houston Texas and representing Chance, Hermon Hardy spent the week here in Australia and New Zealand conducting day training on Chance hotline tools. Focusing mainly on transmission insulator change out, Hermon presented a lot of great content on how to correctly use Chance hotline tools on a variety of transmission structures from all around the world.

Next year we hope to see Hermon again to give Acculec customers glove and barrier training and how to safely work on networks that have REFCL’s in operation.

Acculec has recently developed and marketed our new fire-rated arrester, in response to the recent Victorian bushfire mitigation plans undertaken by the relevant utilities. We are proud to be a part of this replacement program and contributing to the relevant utilities and improving safety in the region.

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Walsh as General Manager – Commercial and Development. Andrew holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Honours) and is currently completing an Executive Master of Business Administration.

Andrew started his career in the utility sector in 2006 and has held several key roles spanning planning, design, network safety, technologies and innovation. Andrew was recently Asset Investment and Consulting Manager for a large utility, overseeing long-term capital and operational asset works projects, technical specifications, product design, tender evaluations, and specialist engineering consulting services.

Andrew brings to Acculec a wealth of strategic utility sector insight, strong high-level key stakeholder relationships, impeccable leadership and relationship building skills and vast experience in creating, presenting and implementing strategic business plans to add significant shareholder value and business risk mitigation.

The project includes the refurbishment of existing Republic of Singapore Air Force helicopter training facilities which are housed at the base.

New support logistics and maintenance facilities will also be constructed as will airfield infrastructure.

The additional infrastructure is required to support the deployment of an additional detachment of Boeing CH-47 airframes to the RSAF Helicopter Squadron's facilities at the base which is part of an agreement between the Republic of Singapore and the Commonwealth of Australia.

When it was put to tender by the Australian Government the estimated cost of the project was $50 million.

Acculec joins the renewable sector winning the supply of products for the Moorabool Wind Farm construction project.

The Moorabool Wind Farm project is located approximately 4km south of Ballan, approximately 67km from Melbourne, 27km from Ballarat and 47km from Geelong. It will extend 14km north to south between Ballan and Mount Wallace to the west of the C141 (Geelong-Ballan Road).

The Minister for Planning has approved construction and operation of up to 107 wind turbines. If 3.4 MW turbines are used at all 107 locations, that is a total of 363.8 MW of renewable electricity being generated.

The Project would result in up to 1,100,000 MWh of renewable electricity being generated. This is enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 223,000 average Victorian homes annually, approximately 11% of Victorian households.*

The project is divided into two sections, the Bungeeltap Section to the north of the project site and the Ballark Section to the south. All turbines proposed are 171m to the tip of the blade.

Construction is expected to commence early 2018 and the wind farm is expected to commence operation early 2019.

The project will have significant local benefits during construction, with investment in the local economy. Moorabool Wind Farm is committed to maximising opportunities for local suppliers where possible and delivering benefits for the local economy.

Acculec secures supply to Newcrest Mine Cadia Valley mine upgrade

Newcrest continues to explore areas around existing mines to expand reserves that will support the development of additional production capacity in this large mineral district.

The Whitsunday Solar Farm is a 69.0 MW DC single-axis tracking project located a few kilometres north of Collinsville in North Queensland. The project is supported by both ARENA and the Queensland Government.

Acculec has been appointed as a subcontractor with all major tenders issued or awarded.
